RCSI Biological Society welcomes new President

Professor Gerry McElvaney from Beaumont Hospital was welcomed as the new President of the RCSI Biological Society at its 73rd Inaugural Meeting today.

The proceedings were opened by the outgoing President Dr Eamonn Leen from Connolly Hospital, followed by the presentation of medals.

Among the recipients was Conor Malone, who received The Leonard Abrahamson Medal; Rachael Eckel, who received the Dr P. Fitzpatrick Pathology Medal; Hugh Ramsay, who received the RCPI Council Medal; Clara Dimitra Boyd, who received the Ffrench O’Carroll Medal; Siobhan Hoare, who received the Professor Max Ryan Radiology Medal and Hong Kuan Kok, who received the Professor Gilmartin Anaesthetics Medal.

The speakers of the evening included Professor McElvaney who addressed guests with a speech titled 'Learning from History', while guest speaker, Liam Moggan, Coach Education Development Officer with the National Coaching and Training Centre (NCTC) at the University of Limerick delivered a speech titled 'Learning from Sport'.
