RCSI and RCPI Biological Society welcome Albert Reynolds

Former Taoiseach of Ireland Albert Reynolds was welcomed at the 74th Biological Society meeting at RCSI.

The proceedings were opened by the President of the Society Professor Noel G. McElvaney, followed by the presentation of medals.

Among the recipients were Ms. Rachael Eckel, who received The Leonard Abrahamson Medal; Ms Dervla Connaughton, who received the RCSI Council Medal and Ms Amy Bagatto who received the RCPI Council Medal.

Guest speakers of the evening included Albert Reynolds, who delivered a speech on 'A Lifetime in Politics' and Ms Durgavasini Devanath with a speech titled 'A Fact Finding Mission to Vietnam – Student Fund Raising for the Christina Noble Assistance Programme'.

Approximately 180 people attended the event, including Sinead Maguire, Honorary Correspondence Secretary; Mark Willcox, Honorary Records Secretary; Fahed Al Roumi, Honorary Treasurer; Nithya Nahappan and Linda Pennycooke, Advertising Secretary; Jehan Ghany and Eimear Kitt, Social Secretary and Lee Polikoff, IT Secretary.
