The annual RCSI Alumni weekend was held at RCSI from 13-15 September 2007.

This year celebrated the classes who graduated in 1947, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982 and 1997. The event, which was sponsored by Quintiles & Innovex, included a full programme of activities and a scientific meeting. Some 250 medical graduates and guests from around the world attended.

Throughout the three days, graduates enjoyed various activities such as a golf outing, a tour to Glendalough and Powerscourt Gardens; a walking tour of Dublin and a tour of the College. On Friday, 14 September a golden jubilee lunch was held for those from the classes of 1947 and 1957. The event finished with a gala dinner on the Saturday evening.

On Friday, 14 September the RCSI scientific meeting brought another dimension to the weekend as talks were given by former graduates and leading medical professionals and academics from RCSI. Among the speakers were Professor Cathal Kelly, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences who delivered a talk on the new curriculum at RCSI; Professor Gerry McElvaney from the Department of Medicine at RCSI and Beaumont Hospital spoke on ‘Understanding and Treating Lung Inflammation’; Professor Brian Harvey, Director of Research at RCSI delivered a talk on the RCSI Research Strategy; Dr Michael Harty from the class of 1977 spoke about caring for vulnerable elderly in the community and Sharon Matela from the class of 1997 spoke about ‘Paediatric Healthcare Challenges in South Africa’.
