RCSI appoints new Chief Librarian
Kate Kelly has been appointed as the new Chief Librarian at RCSI's Mercer Library.
Prior to joining RCSI Kate was Head of Information Services, Hirsch Health Sciences Library at Tufts University, Boston where she was actively involved in the Problem-based Learning (PBL), Evidence-based Medicine (EBM) and Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (EBCAM) programmes. She was also Senior Librarian for Outreach at Massachusetts General Hospital Boston, where she was project manager for grant funded initiatives and contracts including a state-wide consumer health information service.
Since returning to Ireland two years ago, she has worked on a consultant basis for state agencies and government departments. Educated at University of Keele, Staffs, UK and University College Dublin, Kate is currently pursuing a MSc in Health Services Research at NUI, Galway and is a distinguished member of the US Academy of Health Information Professionals.
As Chief Librarian at RCSI she will be responsible for managing and developing library and information services to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the staff and students of the RCSI. Kate takes over from former librarian Beatrice Doran who retired this summer.
