RCSI has achieved recognition from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as a licensed educational institution in the United Arab Emirates.

Two masters programmes, one in Healthcare Management and one in Quality and Safety in Healthcare Management, have also been accredited by the government.

The provision of education in the UAE is considered a privilege rather than a right and the licensing and accreditation system operated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is extremely rigorous, relying heavily on the input of an international team of experts. The Commission for Academic Accreditation manages the accreditation process and the associated standards of excellence that institutions must meet; standards which reflect a consensus within the international higher education community about the essential characteristics required of institutions to achieve a level of excellence and commit to continuous improvement.

A team from the International School of Healthcare Management undertook the project, which was begun in 2007 and took 18 months to complete. The project required the production of in excess of 70 documents across a number of standard operating procedures manuals, a set of detailed policies covering all aspects of the functions of RCSI, the development of a quality assurance and institutional effectiveness systems and detailed course analysis and descriptions. The Commission was particularly impressed with the team’s use of a document management portal and sophisticated project management system to implement the project.

The achievement of UAE Licencing and Accreditation underpins the RCSI’s commitment to providing quality education in the UAE through its campus in RCSI Dubai, which is located in Dubai Healthcare City, and complements the College’s major developments in education and healthcare provision in Bahrain.
