Inaugural REACH football shield match
The inaugural REACH RCSI programme shield between the RCSI soccer team and the local football team Aungier Celtic FC took place on the evening of Wednesday, 29 October.
The game was held at the college sports grounds in Dardistown. The teams and supporters braved the blustery conditions and both fought hard for the title. It was a cliffhanger, with the teams very evenly matched at 3-3, where it went into penalties at the end of the game and Aungier Celtic won the match 5-4.
REACH Project Manager Maria Kelly said: “I would like to give a special thanks to Jim Sherlock, Frank Donegan, Jayo Sherlock (Coach of RCSI team) and David Fitzpatrick (Coach of Aungier Celtic). Thanks also to the players who braved the elements and fought such a great match.”
Dr Terry McWade, Deputy CEO of RCSI, presented the shield to the coach of Aungier Celtic, David Fitzpatrick and captain Colm Long.
