RCSI Dubai confers healthcare management degrees

RCSI will present 57 graduates with masters degrees at its conferring ceremony in Dubai this evening.

They will be presented with their degrees by the President of RCSI Professor Frank Keane.

The graduates, who include doctors, nurses, health managers, pharmacists and lab technicians, come from a wide variety of public and private health sector organisations. 39 graduates will be conferred with an MSc in Healthcare Management while 18 will be conferred with an MSc in Quality & Safety in Healthcare Management.

Professor Frank Keane, President of RCSI, said: "Over the past four decades, RCSI has been supporting healthcare systems worldwide through innovative education, training programmes and healthcare management services. The College’s Institute of Leadership and Healthcare Management provides innovative education, training and healthcare management services in Ireland and internationally. We aim to continue this tradition in Dubai, by providing programmes that meet the emerging healthcare needs of the region."

Professor Ciaran O'Boyle, Head of the RCSI Institute of Leadership and Healthcare Management, said: "We were very pleased to receive accreditation from the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research earlier this year. The Ministry’s commitment to the high standards in education encourages us to continue develop and innovate our programmes. This month we are launching our Professional Electronic Portfolio which will facilitate students and alumni track their own professional development and benchmark it against the competencies for their profession."

Established in 2005, RCSI Dubai provides postgraduate education and training through the RCSI Institute of Leadership and Healthcare Management (ILHM). Currently RCSI Dubai has 130 students enrolled on its two master’s programmes and since 2005, 86 students have graduated. Over the next few years, RCSI Dubai will expand its remit to include clinical education and training. Its programmes are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as well as the National University of Ireland.
