Approximately 550 students were conferred with undergraduate and postgraduate awards at three conferring ceremonies throughout the day.

This was the largest number of students ever to be conferred in a single day at the College.

The day began with the conferring of Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and postgraduate degrees to 105 students, followed by 142 awards being presented in Degrees of Masters of Science (MSc) from the Institute of Leadership and Healthcare Management.

Eight senior RCSI research staff graduated with an MSc in Leadership & Management Development. This programme was funded by RCSI and demonstrates the College’s commitment to developing leaders. Additionally, the Institute’s innovative MSc in Creative Leadership and Organisational Learning graduated a number of senior and middle managers from the five Dublin Academic Teaching Hospitals (DATHS). 

The day culminated with the presentation of 306 nursing awards, including 42 graduates of Master of Science Degrees (MSc), the largest number in the history of the ten year the programme.

Dr Zena Moore, a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery was awarded a PhD for her work on 'Repositioning for the Prevention of Pressure Ulcers'.

Professor Frank Keane, President of RCSI, said: “The variety and number of awards being presented reinforces RCSI’s key role as a leading provider in healthcare education in Ireland. Graduation ceremonies mark a celebration and recognition of the graduate’s accomplishments which they have achieved through outstanding ability, diligent application, sacrifice, excellent teaching and, in particular the support of family and friends.
