Barry Andrews, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, visited the Education and Research Centre in Beaumont Hospital to promote awareness of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic disorder that is passed from parents to their children through their genes.

This condition may result in serious lung and/or liver disease at various ages in life.
