RCSI students participating in the Foundation Year (FY) Physiotherapy elective module recently met with Minister for Health, Dr James Reilly at the Irish Heart Foundation's Council 14th annual stroke conference in the Croke Park Conference Centre. The conference attracted over 200 multidisciplinary delegates working in the area of stroke care.

Dr Frances Horgan and Louise Keating from the RCSI School of Physiotherapy led the Stroke Advocacy Project Proposal as part of the FY elective module. Nine medical and one physiotherapy FY students participated in the project which comprised two projects; the stroke study day and promoting the F.A.S.T. campaign in a young adult cohort.

Dr Frances Horgan, Chair of the Irish Heart Foundation Council on Stroke, said: "The students made an invaluable contribution to the success of the conference, in the lead up to the conference and on the day itself."
