RCSI to showcase its innovations at exhibition
The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) is delighted to announce the ‘RCSI Innovations Exhibition'. This event will showcase research and innovations in medicine, physiotherapy, surgery and technology being used throughout the College. The exhibition will be held in the Exam Hall in RCSI (123 St Stephens' Green, Dublin 2) on Thursday, 29 November 2012.
The ‘RCSI Innovations' expo will run from 2-5pm and will feature demonstrations from leading experts from our Schools of Pharmacy and Physiotherapy; as well as from the Departments of Surgery, Anatomy and Physiology & Medical Physics.
One of the most popular displays at the exhibition will be a 3D video presentation called ‘Anatomists, Engineers & Artists - Anatomy from the Outside In'. This computer-aided learning method acts as an on-line Surface Anatomy Guide in 3D, which shows the motions of muscles and the sites of structures from the surface inwards, combining artistic representation, engineering expertise and anatomical accuracy.
RCSI Innovations will be educational for both adults and students who are interested in science, health, medicine and research. Attendees will be able to witness many other demonstrations at the event such as a simulation of surgical procedures through virtual reality and using the Nintendo Wii Fit to aid physiotherapy rehabilitation.
The RCSI Innovations exhibition is part of the Dublin City of Science 2012 Festival, which is a year-long celebration of science that brings together a community of cultural institutions, organisations and individuals to showcase the best of Irish culture, arts and science.
