RCSI has teamed up with Newstalk radio's award-winning science programme Futureproof to bring listeners through a six-part educational science series called I Have A What Now?

The series takes an entertaining look at the fascinating processes that go on in our bodies to main our health; focusing on the more unusual parts of the human body. During the series, Professor Zena Moore, Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery will take listeners on a visceral sight-seeing tour of the human body through the skin, tissue and bone to a brand new destination each week on the show.

The first episode will air on Saturday, 10 May on Newstalk 106-108FM between 10am and 11am. In the first episode, Zena will talk about the coccyx, otherwise known as the tailbone. Listeners will be brought on a journey starting at the skull and passing through the intestine to come out near the base of the spine ending at our tail bone and Zena will describe what would be seen along the way. Music and sound effects will add atmosphere to each of the steps along the way.

The second episode will air on Saturday, 31 May and will look at the ‘Bundle of His', which is an important part of the electrical conduction system of the heart. The third episode on Saturday, 21 June will focus on the suprachiasmatic nuclei, which are responsible for controlling circadian rhythms. These are important in determining the sleeping and feeding patterns of human beings and animals. The final three parts of the series will air later in the year.

The show will sound like nothing you've heard on Irish radio before and uses a mix of sound effects, narration, music and interview to bring listeners on a curious and amusing scientific journey.

Futureproof is presented by Jonathan McCrea and brings listeners the latest developments from the world of Science and Technology from robotics in warfare to artificial life forms and beyond.
