RCSI polo team to take part in home nations Polo cup
This weekend (28-30 August) the SUPA (Schools and Universities Polo Association) Home Nations Cup will take place at Cheshire Polo Club in England.
The Irish polo team is made up exclusively of RCSI students and alumni:
- Daniel McManus – Current captain of the RCSI Polo Club 2015-2016
- Ailbhe Houlihan – former captain of the RCSI equestrian club 2010-2015
- Senan O’Connell – former captain of the RCSI Polo Club 2014-2015
- Jack Woods – former captain of the RCSI Polo Club 2012-2013
- Dr Tom Branigan – founder in 2008 and former captain of the RCSI Polo club 2011-2012
The four home nations of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will battle it out over two days for the Home Nations Cup. Ireland was victorious at the start of this season in the Tri Nations tournament, held over St Patrick’s week in March, in Wicklow, and so they are the team to beat going into this, the final SUPA event of the 2014-2015 academic year. The winning Irish team at that time included Daniel McManus and Ailbhe Houlihan.
The first match is against Scotland tomorrow 29 August 2015.
