RCSI is ready to open its doors on St Stephen's Green to the public tonight, Friday, 18 September, to showcase the myriad of cultures in the student body at RCSI as well as the Colleges illustrious heritage, as part of Culture Night 2015. The College will open from 5.30pm until 8.30pm on this evening.

Culture Night at RCSI is themed ‘Celebrating Culture: RCSI Past and Present’ and will kick off with special performances at the St Stephen's Green entrance to the College, where you can see a variety of musical and dancing performances from RCSI students from the PIBS (Pakistan-India-Bangladesh-Sri Lanka) and PMCSA (Penang Medical College Students Association) groups, all of whom will be dressed in their native colourful dance attire.

Inside the College, members of the public are free to roam the historic College which has been at its location on St Stephen's Green since 1810. You can learn about the rich heritage and history of RCSI and the part it has played in shaping both local and national history, including when the building was seized by rebels led by Michael Mallin and Countess Markievicz during the 1916 Easter Rising. A series of old medical instruments, artefacts, photos and documents from the RCSI Heritage Collections will also be exhibited in various rooms throughout the College. The RCSI Culture Night team, consisting of our porters and staff from the Heritage Collections will be on hand to offer any help and maybe tell a tale or two!

Speaking ahead of Culture Night, Professor Cathal Kelly, CEO/Registrar, said, "Cultural diversity is something that the College prides itself on and with a student body representing more than 60 countries worldwide and being one of the top 50 most international universities in the world; we know a thing or two about Culture! It is always wonderful to welcome members of the public to the College to enjoy the atmosphere and be part of Culture Night."

RCSI is part of the South Georgian Quarter on Culture Night and this is the fourth time RCSI has participated the annual event. Culture Night is a night to explore, experience and enjoy culture in all its forms in Dublin and across 30 towns, cities and counties in Ireland. Arts and cultural organisations open their doors until late with hundreds of free events, tours, talks and performances for the public to enjoy.
