RCSI School of Physiotherapy welcomes Fulbright Scholar Professor Anne Swisher
Today, staff at the RCSI School of Physiotherapy will welcome Professor Anne Swisher, Educator in Residence and Fulbright Scholar to the College for a three-month period.
Professor Swisher, who is Professor of Physiotherapy at the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, is an educator in physiotherapy for over 20 years and a distance education co-ordinator from 1997-2010. She has an MSc in Exercise Physiology and a PhD in Exercise Science.
During her time in RCSI Professor Swisher will focus on the following activities:
- The development of an exercise testing and prescription for clinical populations (cardiopulmonary diseases, cancer, obesity and other metabolic diseases) educational module.
- The development, evaluation and integration of high-fidelity simulation into the undergraduate curriculum.
Her expertise in the areas of exercise science and chronic disease and the use of web-based teaching and high fidelity patient simulation will be of particular value to RCSI in the development of these educational initiatives.
Professor Marie Guidon, Head of RCSI's School of Physiotherapy, said, "We are looking forward to working with Anne over the coming months and I hope you will join me in welcoming her to the College."
