RCSI male and female volleyball teams take part in UK tournament
RCSI's Men's and Women's Volleyball teams, gained their first international exposure, in Kettering, United Kingdom, on 6-8 November in the Volleyball England Student Cup Qualifier Tournament.
Both teams fought hard, and faced high calibre university teams. The Women's Volleyball team tied for 3rd overall in the tournament.
Captain of the Women's Volleyball team, and key contact in organisation of the tournament, Sarah Pradhan, stated: "I am so proud of our team, having made a strong presence representing RCSI on international soil, and showing that we are a force to be reckoned with. This amazing opportunity further unified our team, and exponentially improved our strategy, team work and skill set. This was an incredible way to start off the year, and we are very much looking forward to the rest of our season."
The Women's team played four matches, winning against Swansea University and the University of Westminister, and losing tight matches against University of East Anglia and the University of Leicester, tieing for 3rd place overall.
The men's team played three matches, against the University of East Anglia, Cambridge and Swansea University.
Both teams look forward to the Annual Irish Intervarsities in 2016, as well as more Irish Volleyball League games.
