RCSI International Night

The culmination of a month-long celebration of cultural diversity took place on Friday, 1 April at the Round Room in Dublin's Mansion House with the 2016 RCSI International Night.

This annual event, one of the most highly anticipated in the College calendar, showcases the culture, traditions, food, music and dance from our students' home countries, of which there are more than 60 represented in the RCSI student body.

The winners of this year's International Night was the Middle-Eastern Student Association (MESA) society for their fantastic performance on the night, beating stiff competition from other societies such as PIBS (Pakistan-India-Bangladesh-Sri Lanka), CAS (Carribean-African Society), CIMSA (Canadian-Irish Medical Students Association), PMCSA (Penang Medical College Students Association) and the Irish society to win the Parnell Keeling trophy. Each act performed dances and musical pieces that highlighted their various talents from all around the globe, all while dressed in the traditional clothing of their respective countries.

Speaking on the event, Philip Curtis, Associate Director of Student Services and Admissions, said, "Diversity is something we, at RCSI, prides ourselves on and International Night was such a fitting way to wrap up the month of March, which we mark as Cultural Diversity month. The fact that this event sells out weeks in advance every year is a testament to the high quality of entertainment on show and dedication of our students with the support of the Student Services Office. I really enjoyed this year's show and congratulations to MESA."
