Local senior citizens revisit Irish Showband era at RCSI Ballroom of Romance
More than 350 senior citizens visited RCSI on Thursday, 7 July for a night of entertainment, singing and dancing at the annual RCSI Ballroom of Romance.
The event, running for its sixth year, is for senior citizens living in the catchment area of the College and was organised by Maria Kelly, REACH (Recreation, Education and Community Health) RCSI Programme Manager, in partnership with Dublin City Council South East Area Community Development team.
Entertainment on the night was provided by the hugely-popular Ronan Collins and the Sugar Cubes showband whose music who brought guests back to the golden era of the Irish Showband phenomenon. The evening opened with a set from The Harmony Knights male voice choir.
REACH RCSI works in partnership with primary and post primary schools, youth and community groups together with the local community on the design and delivery of educational initiatives including grinds clubs, science workshops, sports and health programmes and an education information service.
