More than 500 future healthcare leaders graduate at conferring ceremony

RCSI conferred 510 healthcare professionals with postgraduate awards at two separate conferring ceremonies on Monday, 4 July at the College on St Stephen's Green.

The first ceremony saw Fellowships and Memberships of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine awarded to 46 candidates, including Ad Eundem Fellowships.

The Fellows, Members and Diplomates Conferring Ceremony conferring ceremony saw a further 464 candidates graduate with their awards. In surgery, these awards included Fellowships of RCSI in General Surgery; Otolaryngology; Plastic Surgery; Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery; Urology; and Fellowships Ad Eundem. Memberships of RCSI were awarded including Memberships in ENT and Ophthalmology.

Fellowships of the Faculty of Radiologists were awarded in Radiodiagnosis, as well as Ad Eundem Fellowships. In Dentistry, Fellowships will be awarded in Operative & Restorative Dentistry; Oral Surgery with Oral Medicine; Orthodontics; and Fellowships of the Faculty of Dentistry Ad Eundem. Memberships of the Faculty of Dentistry and Diplomas of Primary Care Dentistry will also be awarded.

Professor John Hyland, President of RCSI said: "We recognise our conferring candidates' application to their training and their dedication and commitment to their patients and their respective professions. I would like to congratulate everyone who graduated on reaching this important and exciting stage in their careers. For some, this is an important milestone which places them securely on the training ladder and for others it is a statement of completion of a comprehensive training programme and rigorous assessment process to the highest standards, enabling them to now practice as a specialist."

The College actively promotes continuing professional education and is increasingly successful in attracting a growing body of postgraduate students, who bring with them a substantial body of varied professional experience, gained both in Ireland and internationally.

In 2016, RCSI will grant the same degree to graduates at our campuses in three countries. This common medical degree demonstrates our commitment to excellence in healthcare education worldwide, connecting our colleges in Ireland, Bahrain and Malaysia and our network of Alumni across the globe.
