RCSI Dubai celebrates 10 years

RCSI has celebrated 10 years of educating health professionals in Dubai. This important milestone was an opportunity to celebrate the ongoing success of RCSI Dubai's nearly 550 graduates as they continue to shape and enrich health services in the region.

The event also marked RCSI Dubai's commitment to Dubai and the wider region. The College has long-established ties with the Middle East over many decades, with a tradition of students studying at the College's Irish campus.

As part of our ongoing commitment to healthcare education and training in the region, in 2005, we established RCSI Dubai and, through the Institute of Leadership, we deliver masters programmes in Healthcare Management, Quality and Patient Safety and Leadership in Health Professions Education.

Here in the UAE, we are working in collaboration with Dubai Healthcare City to determine the skills and expertise needed to meet the demands of the decade ahead. Our programmes at RCSI Dubai, are tailored to deliver on our mission and goal of better patient outcomes, which will benefit human health both here in Dubai and across the Middle East. The development of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and health sciences provides opportunities for increased collaboration with partners not only to keep pace with the rapid change in healthcare but to lead the way.

Many of RCSI Dubai graduates hold significant leadership positions in the region and will continue to make highly influential contributions to the development of quality healthcare for years to come.

The 10-year anniversary event was attended by Ambassador Patrick Hennessy, distinguished Irish business representatives in Dubai, staff, students and Alumni. The evening's guest speaker, Her Excellency Raja al Gurg, Director of the Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group LLC (ESAG), spoke about the importance of leadership and understanding the responsibility that comes with leadership positions. She also congratulated RCSI Dubai on its contribution to the development of healthcare leaders in the region.

Representing Alumni, Dr Mohammad Al Redha, Director of the Office for Organisational Transformation at Dubai Health Authority, gave a personal reflection on his undergraduate studies at RCSI in Ireland and postgraduate studies at RCSI Dubai.

Professor Cathal Kelly, Chief Executive, RCSI, concluded the event by saying: "We are immensely proud of achievements by Alumni, and look forward to continuing to work with Dubai to develop the pipeline of healthcare leaders of the future."
