Local senior citizens ring in the festive season at RCSI at annual Christmas Lunch
RCSI hosted its annual Christmas lunch for senior citizens of the local community, a tradition that has been going for 30 years, at the College on Thursday, 1 December.
The lunch, for senior citizens living in the catchment area of the College, is organised by the REACH (Recreation Education And Community Health) RCSI programme, supported voluntarily by RCSI staff and is sponsored by the College.
The festivities included a Christmas lunch and afternoon of music and dancing. More than 100 local senior citizens attended and joined in the Christmas celebrations. A fun-filled afternoon of food, dancing and of course, the traditional singalong, was had and was led by musician, Mick Doherty and kindly supported by Dunnes Stores.
Speaking on the annual Christmas lunch, Maria Kelly, REACH RCSI Manager said: "This annual Christmas lunch is something the people in our community look forward to every year. The tradition really does mark the beginning of Christmas for our guests and at RCSI. I'd like to extend my thanks to the staff that volunteered their time and gave something back to the local community."
Established in 2007, the REACH RCSI Programme is a unique community outreach and access programme at RCSI, promoting recreation education and community health.
