To mark National Tree Week, 12 RCSI students and some staff members planted more than 200 native trees - which were oak, rowan, beech and silver birch trees at an event in the College's grounds in Dardistown on Saturday, 11 March.

Well done to the 12 volunteers: Esraa Ads, Sondus Khan, Bee Hong Ang, Nour Alali, Mahitha Ballem, Jane Tjong, Noor Amirah Amirmudin, Siti Nur Hajar Amir Khairul Amar, Adiena Zulkarnain, Nur Syahirah Abd Rahim, Farah Al Yetama, Fatimah Sadeq, Zainab Al- Julaijal, Amalin Najiha Mohd Sabri and Aoife Huethorst who took part in the tree planting event and thanks to Fatemah Sadeq, RCSI medicine student who took photos on the day.

Thanks go to Dr Darren Griffith (Pharmaceutical & Medical Physics), Professor Brendan Kavanagh (Anatomy) for their continued support. This event was part of the RCSI Green Campus Initiative which strives to obtain An Taisce Green Campus accreditation for RCSI.

National Tree Week 2017 ran from March 5-12 2017. It is an initiative from the Tree Council of Ireland, an umbrella body for organisations involved in tree planting, management and conservation. The main role of the Tree Council is to promote the planting, care and enjoyment of trees. The Tree Council aims to educate the public through the organisation of events and tree related activities, the publication of literature, and the management of national tree records and through the provision of an information service to the public.
