RCSI Rugby in Paris 2018

The RCSI Rugby team travelled to Paris last weekend for the annual rugby match with Université Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC).

The friendly rivalry between the two colleges has been in existence for 27 years, and the match is one of the highlights of the annual RCSI sporting calendar.

Hosting responsibilities sat with UPMC this year, due to the Ireland v France Six Nations Championship also taking place in the French capital last weekend.

The weekend's festivities commenced with both teams sharing a formal dinner on Thursday, 1 February.

On, what proved to be a very cold, Saturday morning, team captain Luke Trench (4th year Medicine) led the RCSI team out, in the hopes of recreating the College's stunning victory in Dublin in 2017.

In front of crowd, which included RCSI alumni, RCSI started strong and by half-time were well in the lead with 17 points on the scoreboard to UPMC's 0. However, UPMC came back into contention in the second half and the match finished on a scoreline of 17-17.

RCSI's Callum Quinn was named Man of the Match at the final whistle, while Victor O'Brien was named Man of the Tour.
