RCSI has become the first higher education institution in Ireland to achieve the Investors in Diversity Ireland standard, demonstrating the College’s commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and to continuous development in this area.

In collaboration with RCSI’s EDI Unit, The Irish Centre for Diversity carried out an equality impact assessment and an organisational culture evaluation of RCSI, highlighting areas of significant achievement in addition to areas for improvement.

Professor Cathal Kelly, RCSI Registrar/CEO, commented: “Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of how we conduct our business at RCSI and we have worked hard to embed practices across all of our work streams which reinforces our commitment to EDI. I would like to thank all staff for their support for an inclusive environment for all students and staff. As we focus on our upcoming Athena SWAN application, the Investors in Diversity Award demonstrates our commitment to EDI, ensuring that we have a culture where you can bring your whole self to your education and to work.”

Solat Chaudhry, Chairman of Irish Centre of Diversity, said: “The Investors in Diversity journey and achievement of the standard gives a positive message to all the stakeholders, internal and external, and each person should be congratulated for their input and success of the organisation.”

The Irish Centre for Diversity works in partnership with organisations across Ireland to embed good practices around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and support workplace environments that are equitable and inclusive. The Investors in Diversity Award provides an extensive methodology for improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion practices in the workplace. Those that achieve the Investors in Diversity Award have been enabled to take a structured and planned approach to embedding EDI across governance, leadership, and daily core business.

Working with the Irish Centre for Diversity, RCSI aims to continue to embed good practices of fairness, respect, equality and inclusion. Find out more about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at RCSI here.
