Under the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Charter Amendment Act 2003, the Election of Council takes place every two years. The next election will be held on Thursday, 7 June 2018.

Under the leadership of the current Council, RCSI continues to play a strong healthcare leadership role, driving the reform of the surgical training programme as well as more active engagement with surgical health policy and health service issues. The newly elected Council members will play an important role in the leadership of the College.
