More than 350 senior citizens visited RCSI yesterday evening for a night of dancing, singing and entertainment at the annual RCSI and DCC (Dublin City Council) Ballroom of Romance.

The event is for senior citizens – living in the local area of the College and across the southeast inner city – saw active retirement, volunteer and community groups come together for a night of music, memories and dancing.

Entertainment will be provided by ‘Ronan Collins and the Sugar Cubes’, whose music transported guests back to the showband scene which dominated Irish cultural life for over 30 years.

The event, now in its eighth year, is organised by Maria Kelly, REACH (Recreation, Education and Community Health) RCSI Programme Manager, in partnership with Ronan O’Donnell and the Dublin City Council South East Area Community Development team.

REACH is a unique community engagement and access programme at RCSI, promoting recreation, education and community health. REACH RCSI works in partnership with primary and post primary schools, youth and community groups together with the local community on the design and delivery of educational initiatives including grinds clubs, science workshops, sports & health programmes and an education information service.
