RCSI extends deadline for Women in Leadership Scholarship Programme
The deadline for the submission of applications for the RCSI 30% Club Women in Leadership Scholarship Programme has been extended to 30 June.
In 2018, RCSI Institute of Leadership, in collaboration with the 30% Club, announced the Women in Leadership Scholarship Programme, offering scholarships for its MSc in Leadership and Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership. The scholarships reflect RCSI's commitment to promote greater gender diversity in healthcare as well as the critical importance of effective and impactful leadership in healthcare.
The scholarships are supported by the 30% Club, a global movement committed to better gender balance at all levels of organisations, fostering greater representation of women at executive levels of business and large organisations.
RCSI and the 30% Club are interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of healthcare specialities. The Women in Leadership Scholarship Progamme 2020 will support four candidates.
Dr Mary Collins, Programme Director said: “RCSI Institute of Leadership is delighted to continue our partnership with the 30% Club in offering four female candidates a scholarship covering all tuition fees on our Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership (PDICL) and our MSc in Leadership. Our programmes are designed for all senior clinical staff, seeking to become more effective and confident leaders who can deal with complex issues in a rapidly changing environment.”
Dr Emmeline Nugent, 2019 MSc in Leadership scholarship recipient, said: “Not only has the masters allowed me to better understand my own leadership styles and approach but also of those around me. The most beneficial aspect of the masters to date has been learning about strategy and innovation and their importance in day to day healthcare has been underlined.”
Commencing at the end of September 2020, the MSc in Leadership scholarship is valued at €12,500.
Commencing at the end of August 2020, the Professional Diploma in Clinical Leadership is valued at €5,750.
Closing date for receipt of applications is 30 June 2020.

About the 30% Club
The 30% Club Ireland officially launched in January 2015, with a goal to achieve better gender balance at all levels in leading Irish businesses. The 30% Club believes that gender balance in executive leadership not only encourages better leadership and governance, but further contributes to better all-round performance, and ultimately increased corporate performance for both companies and their shareholders. The initiative is complementary to individual company efforts and existing networking groups, adding to these through collaboration and the visible commitment of senior business leaders.
The 30% Club is a collaborative business-led effort to make real change in Ireland, aiming towards 30% female representation in senior management by 2020.
