Funded leadership and management courses offered to healthcare professionals and managers
RCSI Institute of Leadership has opened applications for two new short Postgraduate courses, funded by the Higher Education Authority under the Government’s July Stimulus Package.
The HEA funding will facilitate the upskilling of those working in the healthcare system at a time when these skills are most needed.
The two modular courses are in: Developing and Demonstrating People Management in Healthcare and Fundamentals of Quality Improvement for Healthcare Professionals. Each module is 10 ECTS at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications. Participants on the module may also have an opportunity to progress to complete further studies, in order to achieve a Professional Diploma at Level 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications.
These short courses will be delivered through a blend of online content. Faculty will support new students with technologies and ensure a rich and engaging online experience.
Sara McDonnell, Executive Director of RCSI Institute of Leadership, said: "As part of Ireland’s only health sciences focused University, the Institute of Leadership understands the challenges existing within the healthcare system and the needs of those working within it. These programmes offer healthcare professionals and healthcare managers, with an interest in building their leadership and management capabilities, the opportunity to access funded programmes and sample the suite of postgraduate offerings available at the RCSI Institute of Leadership.
"Participants will join the Institute’s healthcare-focused learning community and become part of a rich network of healthcare professionals who have participated in the Institute’s immersive and accredited programmes."
In October the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris TD, announced funding for additional postgraduate places and short courses across a number of Irish higher education institutions. This additional funding is part of the Governments July stimulus plan, developed in response to the impact of COVID-19.
Places on these courses are substantially funded by the Irish Government but people in employment who undertake these courses will pay 10% of the programme cost (normal cost €1,920). Eligibility criteria apply.
Further information on the course content and applications for these modules is available at Developing and Demonstrating People Management in Healthcare; Fundamentals of Quality Improvement for Healthcare Professionals.
These courses commence in February and run until April 2021. Enquiries to ssullivan2@rcsi.com.
