RCSI launches new membership exam centre in Sabah, Malaysia

RCSI’s has launched a new exam centre in eastern Malaysia to support aspiring surgeons in Southeast Asia planning to sit RCSI’s membership examinations.

Prospective candidates can now register to sit the membership examination (MRCS) in the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) from 17-18 May, which will be RCSI’s first-ever MRCS examination in east Malaysia.

The new RCSI exam centre is in UMS will be supported by the university’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

RCSI has a long history of collaboration and education in Malaysia. This new partnership with UMS builds on this legacy to respond to the growing demand from doctors worldwide choosing to sit the MRCS examinations with RCSI. The additional exam capacity and supporting educational activities in Sabah will help RCSI to better support surgical trainees in the region to reach their full potential.

The MRCS is a crucial milestone in a surgical career; it is an international validation that an individual possesses the correct knowledge, skills and attributes to complete basic training and progress to higher levels of specialist surgical training.

Supporting surgeons worldwide

Datuk Dr Mohd Yusuf Bin Haji Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UMS, said: “I believe RCSI and University Malaysia Sabah will have clear goals and mutual interests, which will foster a strong and sustainable international collaboration that benefits faculty, students, and the broader global healthcare community.”

To apply for the MRCS Part B exam on May 16-17 in Sabah, candidates can register via the MRCS examinations portal.
