New RCSI book explores the science of positive health and well-being
A pioneering new book offering an in-depth exploration of Positive Health, an emerging field that examines the integration of body and mind as a unified system, has been published by academics from the Centre for Positive Health Sciences at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences. This essential text provides a comprehensive understanding of how lifestyle choices and psychological well-being contribute to overall health.
Bridging the fields of lifestyle medicine and positive psychology, the book presents a clear, accessible guide to positive health.
Positive Health: The Basics explores key components such as nutrition, sleep hygiene, physical activity, and psychological tools that foster positive affect. Readers will also discover cognitive, arts-based, and behavioural strategies that enhance mental well-being, providing a holistic perspective on the interconnectedness of psychology, physiology, and health behaviour.
Balancing theory with practical application, the book features engaging narratives and interactive activities designed to help individuals apply research findings to their daily lives. Readers are encouraged to reflect on and adapt their thoughts, behaviours, and environments to support their well-being.
With practical insights particularly relevant for those struggling with health and wellness goals, this book serves as a valuable resource for anyone seeking to enhance their quality of life.

A fresh perspective
