The Order of Bahrain 1st Class, the highest honour that can be bestowed by the King of Bahrain, was awarded to Michael Horgan, Chief Executive of RCSI, on the occasion of the recent RCSI Overseas Meeting.

The award, usually reserved for Heads of State, is also awarded to those who perform outstanding services to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The award was presented on 15 March 2006 in recognition of Michael's outstanding contribution in the area of healthcare, education and training in the Kingdom of Bahrain over a 20-year period.
