Approximately 150 students were conferred with postgraduate awards at RCSI on Monday, 9 July 2007.

These included awards in Intercollegiate Board Specialty Diplomas in General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, Urology and both Intercollegiate Memberships and Memberships of the RCSI.

New Members and Fellows of the Faculties of Radiology, Dentistry and Sports and Exercise Medicine were also conferred.

In his speech, Professor Gerald O’Sullivan, President of RCSI, congratulated them all and said: “All of these awards reflect both the traditional and changing face of medicine and surgery. RCSI has a continued commitment to collaboration with our sister colleges and professional bodies so that the benefits of recent discoveries and developments are immediately realized for the benefits of patients through specialisation, teamwork and training. In this regard may I recognize the important relationship between surgery and the postgraduate faculties.”
