195 students conferred at RCSI

RCSI Conferring Ceremony 2008

RCSI conferred 195 students with degrees in Medicine, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy, as well as postgraduate awards at its conferring ceremony today. 246 nursing students were also conferred at the event.

Among the postgraduate awards being awarded were a Degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Healthcare, Ethics and Law; MSc in Healthcare Management; MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science; MSc in Research Master of Science in Quality and Safety in Healthcare; Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Graduates from the Nurse Prescribing programme were among those were conferred in the afternoon. The introduction of the programme in 2007, was an important initiative in the Irish healthcare system and resulted in an expansion and extension of the scope of nursing and midwifery practice.

Professor Frank Keane, President of RCSI, said: “RCSI is continuously developing ways of delivering its undergraduate and postgraduate education and training. Conferring ceremonies are joyous occasions for the graduates, their families, friends and academic staff who have contributed to their success.”
