Regional meeting for Fellows and Members held in Waterford

RCSI hosted a regional meeting for Fellows and Members in Waterford Regional Hospital on Friday, 18 May. The regional meeting is part of the College's engagement strategy with its Fellows and Members to provide an informal forum to discuss the role the College can play in support of its surgical community.

In attendance were consultants and trainees from Waterford and the surrounding counties who were joined by Professor Eilis McGovern, President of RCSI; Mr Paddy Broe, Vice-President; Mr Declan Magee, RCSI Council Member; Professor Sean Tierney, Dean of Professional Development & Practice; Mr Eunan Friel, Managing Director, Department of Surgical Affairs and Ms Louise Sherwin, Manager, Fellows, Members and Alumni Office.

The meeting proved a very useful exercise to map out important issues such as training and the challenges in the health service so that the College can address gaps where it can provide leadership and support for its Fellows and Members. The College is planning to roll out a series of meeting over the coming months as part of this important initiative.
