The RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery was founded in 1974 and has a proud tradition of delivering educational programmes to nurses and midwives in Ireland.
The Faculty provides registered nurses and midwives with education and training at the highest standard to support the maintenance of their professional development and competence.

50 years of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery
2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at RCSI. In 1974, the inauguration of the Faculty took place at RCSI under the Fellowship of its First Dean Mary Frances Crowley, with an aim of creating 'leaders in the real sense, decision makers whose further qualifications will enable them to enhance the nursing profession's on-the-ward service to patients'.
Teaching and education
For five decades the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery has provided nurses and midwives, from a variety of clinical nursing specialties, with a diverse range of educational programmes.
