The 44th Annual International Nursing and Midwifery Research and Education Conference will take place in Dublin on 26 and 27 February 2025.

Aligned to the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences Strategic Plan 2023-2027, the theme of this year’s conference is 'Recruiting, Developing, Retaining and Sustaining the Global Nursing and Midwifery Workforce for Future Health and Care Needs'.

The four subthemes for this year’s conference are:

  • Novel approaches to perpetual workforce challenges
  • Retaining and replenishing the nursing and midwifery workforce
  • Expanding our professional view and impact
  • Nursing and midwifery in a new world of health determinants

We are excited to welcome up to 400 delegates to engage with world-renowned healthcare leaders as they share their insights on recruiting, developing, retaining, and sustaining the global nursing and midwifery workforce to meet future health and care needs.

The main conference event takes place on 27 February.

Speakers

We are proud to feature a wonderful line-up of keynote speakers, including:

  • Professor James Buchan – Renowned expert in nurse workforce policy, Senior Fellow at the Health Foundation, UK, and Adjunct Professor at WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing, University of Technology, Sydney
  • Dr Ruth Riley – Associate Professor, University of Surrey, focusing on nurse suicidality through a feminist lens
  • Professor Daniel B. Oerther – Distinguished environmental health engineer and 2024 Champion of Nursing Award recipient, with expertise in sustainable development and planetary health.
  • Dr Elaine Maxwell – Visiting Professor of Leadership at London South Bank University and a clinical advisor with a background in leadership and service improvement.
  • Dr Viktoria Stein – Assistant Professor at Leiden University Medical Centre and expert in integrated care and population health management.
  • Dr Linda Valentino – Esteemed Chief Nursing Officer with extensive experience in workforce engagement, leadership, and operational excellence in healthcare institutions.
