RCSI Gold Humanism Honor Society Chapter
Since 2002, The Arnold P. Gold Foundation Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) has recognised students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors, and leaders in medicine.
RCSI is the first institution in Europe to have its own GHHS Chapter. This recognises students, residents and faculty who are exemplars of compassionate patient care and who serve as role models, mentors and leaders in medicine. With chapters at more than 150 schools, there are over 27,000 members in training and practice.
A GHHS identifier is on the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) as GHHS membership is highly valued and looked for in residency applicants.
The RCSI chapter of the GHHS was founded in 2022, with 15% of the SC1 class being inducted following a peer-nomination process, and a faculty committee review of applications. There are three Chapter Advisors: Niamh Mullen, Prof. Anne Hickey and Dr Caragh Behan.
This RCSI Chapter hosts various events throughout the year to support the humanism and compassionate patient care ethos of the society.
