All applicants to RCSI are considered solely on the basis of merit, ability and potential, regardless of gender, ethnic or national origin, age (subject to the University regulations on minimum age), disability, religion, sexual orientation or any other irrelevant distinction.

RCSI adopts the Lisbon Recognition Convention (LRC) when assessing applicants for admission to the university. The LRC is an international agreement that facilitates the recognition of higher education qualifications across Europe. The LRC was signed in 1997, effective from 1999, with over 50 countries ratifying it. The purpose is to ensure fair recognition of degrees and study periods unless substantial differences are proven. It is overseen by the Committee of the Convention and the ENIC Network and is part of the Bologna Process supporting the creation of a European Higher Education Area by standardising academic qualifications. The convention enhances academic mobility and ensures fair recognition of qualifications across participating countries. A copy of the LRC is available below.
