Leaders play a pivotal role in fostering positive workplace cultures that prioritise health and well-being. Recognising the profound impact of lifestyle-related diseases on productivity and morale, the World Health Organization underscores the urgency for proactive measures. Heart disease, lung ailments, cancers, and diabetes claim over 38 million lives annually, with 16 million being premature – an alarming statistic that underscores the imperative for intervention.
This course is designed to empower you with the essential skills to not only uphold personal health and well-being in the workplace but also drive systemic improvements that elevate standards across the board.
With a comprehensive curriculum that seamlessly integrates leadership development, positive psychology, lifestyle medicine and positive organisational scholarship you'll become equipped with the holistic toolkit necessary for success in health, corporate, and educational settings, becoming adept at creating thriving workplaces where well-being flourishes.
This programme is delivered over nine months in a blended format of online lectures, interactive webinars, and practice-based assignments. Module 2 requires two on-site days in RCSI.

Delivery
Our academic programme will be delivered through a blend of online content and activities, onsite days, and live interactive sessions, to offer a collaborative and supported student experience.
You will have the opportunity to become part of an international, healthcare-focused, learning community, no matter where you are based.
Per module, there will be live (or synchronous sessions) where live material is delivered in real-time via the online teaching platform, or non-live (or asynchronous sessions) consisting of pre-recorded lectures, videos, readings and tutorials.
Please note that Module 2, Leadership & Positive Organisational Scholarship, will include two classroom days on-site in RCSI.

Timetables
Timetables will be made available to students during their orientation module.
All sessions are recorded and can be viewed at a time that suits your needs. During orientation, you will be shown where to find your module schedules on the virtual learning environment (VLE).
Please note that RCSI reserves the right to make changes to the academic timetables, and any updates will be communicated to students accordingly.
Assessment is continuous.
This level 9 programme is accredited by the National University of Ireland and RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Admissions
To be eligible for the programme you must:
- Hold a level 7 or level 8 degree, or equivalent.
- Be working in a relevant sector (e.g. healthcare, allied health, education, law, HR, management or equivalent; hold a position with the responsibility/future opportunity to lead initiatives related to creating and sustaining positive workplace cultures.). As there is an emphasis on well-being of self and others, you should ideally be working in a setting where you can apply your learning.
- Meet the English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent score on another standardised test . Please refer to English language requirements for Postgraduate study at RCSI Dublin - Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

If you do not have an undergraduate degree at level 7 or above you may still be eligible to apply through recognition of prior learning (RPL). RPL is the assessment of knowledge, skills and competence previously acquired.
Learning occurs in many contexts which include work, involvement in social and community activities, or learning through life experience generally. RPL does not give credit for experience as such; rather it considers the learning that was acquired as a result of the experience.
RPL may be used to gain:
- Admission to courses/programmes where a person may not have obtained the standard entry requirements.
- Exemptions from course modules which duplicate the learning outcomes an individual has already demonstrably acquired through prior learning.
- Recognition of prior learning (RPL) pathway is outlined here.
If you wish to apply for recognition of prior learning, please complete the essay requirement as per assignment descriptor outlined in the document below.
Exemptions may apply for:
- Applicants who have completed their school or undergraduate studies (three or more years) through English in a country where English is the majority native language
- Applicants who have completed their school or undergraduate studies (three or more years) in an English speaking institution in a country where English is not the majority native language and where an IELTS score of 5 or more was a requirement for admissions to the programme
- Applicants who have been working in a country (three years or more) where English is the majority native language or for an employer where English language is the official language
- Graduates of an RCSI Undergraduate, Masters or Professional Diploma programme in Dublin and Bahrain

Please note:
- The fee includes all resources, access to our award-winning online learning portal and access to extensive RCSI-only databases.
- The fee includes NUI fee.
- The fee is payable via the above schedule, where relevant.
- If you have outstanding fees you will not be entitled to receive your grades or be eligible to progress and or graduate (VLE and Library privileges will be withdrawn in these cases).
- RCSI accepts no obligation to refund any fee, or part thereof, in respect of a student who chooses to withdraw from a programme.
- If you choose to withdraw from a programme you are liable for full fees owed for the seat on that programme.
- All NUI parchments are issued in Latin; you will be required to pay an additional fee of €50 to NUI if you wish to have a parchment published in English.
- Fees are subject to review annually.
