Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science and managed by the Council.

These scholarships are awards that will support suitably qualified research masters and doctoral candidates pursuing, or intending to pursue, full-time research in any discipline.

The duration of a scholarship ranges from one-to-four years, depending on the type of degree being pursued.

What the IRC offers

The value of the scholarship will be up to a maximum of €28,000 per annum, consisting of the following:

  • A stipend of €19,000 per annum
  • Contribution to fees (including non-EU fees, up to a maximum of €5,750 per annum)
  • Eligible direct research expenses of €3,250 per annum

Who can apply?

You can apply if, at the call deadline, you are in possession of:

  • a first-class or upper second-class honours degree, or equivalent
    or
  • a masters degree, if you do not have a first-class or upper second-class honours degree

For example, we can help you to identify a suitable supervisor for your scholarship and support you in the application process.

Applications open on 29 August 2024 and close on 10 October 2024.
