RCSI Medical University of Bahrain Organises Alumni Reception at Bahraini Embassy in UK

RCSI Medical University of Bahrain organised a special alumni reception at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in London, United Kingdom, to celebrate and acknowledge the growing success of its alumni community in the UK. The event was hosted by His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom.

His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Ireland, stated, “Since its inception in 2004, RCSI Medical University of Bahrain has positively contributed to the growing healthcare sector in Bahrain, especially by training world-class health professionals. As we celebrate its 20th Anniversary, with a total of 3,312 alumni, among which more than 470 alumni live and work in the UK, we are also celebrating the University’s role in furthering Bahraini-Irish and Bahraini-British, people-to-people relations.”

Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, extends his sincere thanks and gratitude to His Excellency Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for hosting the University’s Alumni at the Bahraini Embassy and celebrating their career achievements in the UK.

Furthermore, the UK is the second top destination after Bahrain for RCSI Medical University of Bahrain alumni followed by USA, Kuwait and Canada, with 151 Bahraini alumni residing and working in the UK and 78 alumni from the Class of 2024 securing placements through the UK Foundation Programme.

Welcoming attendees, Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Managing Director of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain and Professor Alfred Nicholson, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of the School of Medicine, shared key updates on the University’s latest initiatives, including the progress of its new academic building were provided to the Alumni.

Mr Harrison-Mirfield commented, “RCSI Medical University of Bahrain is committed to developing healthcare leaders who make a difference and the career achievements of our alumni in the UK exemplify this commitment. It is incredibly fulfilling to see how much of a meaningful impact on healthcare in the UK, Bahrain and worldwide that our alumni are having.”

With a keynote address by Professor David Misselbrook, former Associate Professor in Family Medicine, the evening celebrated the 10th anniversary of the graduation of Class of 2014, and provided a valuable opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share memories and acknowledge their collective accomplishments.

Connecting with our alumni to provide support and help enhance their personal and professional development is a crucial element of ensuring the continued success of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain. Through the Alumni Ambassador programme, the University aims to create a wider and localised network of engagements with alumni locally and internationally.

The RCSI Medical University of Bahrain alumni network has a significant global footprint, with over 3,200 graduates in 39 countries equipped with the knowledge and skills to positively impact healthcare worldwide.
