Research

Wounds research is the flagship area of expertise in the School of Nursing & Midwifery, evidenced by the Skin, Wounds and Trauma (SWaT) Research Centre, led by Head of School, Professor Zena Moore.

Additionally, the School has a strong focus on patient outcomes research, be that in the area of wound care or another clinical specialty. The School houses methodological expertise in the areas of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research.

The School also has a long-standing track record in the successful completion of clinically-focused systematic reviews. In relation to research funding, the School has attracted funding from national and international funding agencies and industry, all of which is geared towards clinical research with a clear patient outcomes focus. Dissemination is a central component of the School's overall research strategy; staff and students are regular contributors to national and international nursing and healthcare conferences and publish in high-impact factor peer-reviewed journals.

The significant level of research expertise in the School allows for the provision of high-quality research student supervision at Masters and Doctoral level.
