Wound management is a significant issue within modern healthcare and the main theme of our research.

The new Skin Wounds, and Trauma (SWaT) Research Centre at RCSI specialises in cutting-edge research in the field of wound healing and tissue repair, with a specific emphasis on pressure ulcer prevention and management.

Led by nurses, the team behind the centre have a wealth of experience in both clinical practice and academia. This experience spans the continuum of evidence generation, to the critical appraisal and synthesis of existing evidence, through to the development of solutions and guidelines for important challenges within clinical practice today and into the future.This enables the translation of evidence into contemporary clinical decision-making, providing a platform for outcomes focussed healthcare practice.
