Compassion Cultivation Training for Irish Healthcare

Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery

Summary

RCSI Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery will host the Compassion Cultivation Training for Irish Healthcare online programme over eight weeks from Thursday, 6 March to Thursday, 24 April 2025 from 6.30-8.30pm.

The programme draws on insights and techniques from psychology, neuroscience and contemplative practice and is facilitated by Certified Compassion Cultivation Training instructor Dr Debora Gama Lima.

The course integrates evidence-based meditation techniques, interactive discussions, and lectures, as well as real-world exercises to put learning into practice.

Compassion Cultivation Training was developed in 2009 at Stanford University by principal author Thupten Jinpa PhD, with contributions from Compassion Institute founding faculty members.

‘In this time of increasing levels of burnout in health, and recognition of the essential need for social justice in all areas of society, we more than ever need the skills to engage in inner inquiry and cultivate sustainable inner resources. This inner work is not only necessary for self and collective care, but also to co-create more equitable and sustainable health systems.’ – The Compassion Institute.
