I completed my medical doctorate in RCSI from 2021-24 examining allergic disease in children born during the COVID-19 pandemic. I found these years immensely rewarding from the interactions I had with families during a time of mass lockdown, to the diverse research team I worked with and the vast experience I gained in data analysis, interpretation, academic writing, and presentation.

I had the dual benefit of working as a Clinical Lecturer in Paediatric and Child Health while conducting my research – something which enriched my experience as I connected with other healthcare professionals conducting postgraduate degrees and interacting with undergraduate medical students. This allowed me to guide students who were interested in following a similar pathway where both clinical care and research can be blended.

At every step of my RCSI journey I encountered knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive members of the RCSI team –– from the Data Science Centre, to the internal examiners and supervisors, and of course the faculty of the Postgraduate school.

Completing my medical doctorate in RCSI and the experience I gained during my years of research has kickstarted my career as a clinical researcher and has fuelled my future as a member of a national and international allergy field.
