RCSI Bahrain and Royal Life Saving Bahrain Collaborate for Student Volunteering Opportunities
RCSI Bahrain and Royal Life Saving Bahrain (RLSB) charity have joined forces to open further opportunities for students to be involved in community projects and events. The agreement was signed by Chairperson and Founder of RLSB, Her Highness Shaikha Nayla bint Hamad bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and President of RCSI Bahrain, Professor Sameer Otoom, during a meeting at the University’s campus in Busaiteen on Tuesday, 23 November.
As per the terms of the agreement, RLSB, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s main aquatic authority in drowning prevention and water safety, will provide volunteering opportunities for RCSI Bahrain students such as assisting in the delivery of educational programmes at beaches, schools and in the community, providing first aid coverage at community events and patrolling beaches alongside RLSB lifeguards. In addition, RCSI Bahrain will also be the ‘Community Partner’ to the charity in their community events.
RCSI Bahrain President, Professor Otoom commented, “We are delighted to partner with Royal Life Saving Bahrain to aid in spreading awareness about water safety and preventing drowning related deaths in the Kingdom of Bahrain. With Community Engagement being one of RCSI Bahrain’s pillars, it’s important that our students are involved in different volunteering projects and are able to contribute to local and international communities, making them more work-ready and compassionate healthcare professionals.”
This is the first agreement of its kind between the two parties and reflects the University’s commitment to expanding its network of community partners and increasing its students’ exposure to diverse volunteering opportunities.
