RCSI Medical University of Bahrain and Think Pink Launch Initiative to Support Postgraduate Education of Bahraini Nurses in Breast Cancer Field

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) – Medical University of Bahrain and the Bahrain Breast Cancer Society (Think Pink) have announced a collaborative initiative to support the education of Bahraini nurses in the field of breast cancer care through the Masters in Nursing programme.
Think Pink has sponsored Ms Zahra Mardhi, who works at the Mohammed Jassim Kanoo Health Centre, and Mr Issa Al Abbadi (Class of 2019), a Nurse at King Hamad University Hospital, to enrol in the Master’s in Nursing programme at RCSI Medical University of Bahrai. Both nurses will focus their master's dissertations on topics related to breast cancer. This support aims to increase the number of nurses specialised in breast cancer, thereby enhancing the Kingdom’s capacity to provide advanced healthcare services to patients and their families.
Commenting on this collaboration, Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, stated: "RCSI Medical University of Bahrain is proud of our partnership with Think Pink in this important initiative. Supporting the education of Bahraini nurses specialising in breast cancer reflects our shared commitment to enhancing healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain."
Dr Julie Sprakel, Founder and President of Think Pink, stated: "The sponsorship of our seventh and eighth nurses to complete their Master's degree at RCSI Bahrain was made possible through donations collected from a series of events in 2024. We look forward to the nurses' master's dissertations, which will contribute to scientific knowledge and provide practical solutions to combat breast cancer in our community."
This initiative aligns with RCSI Bahrain’s strategic vision to enhance scientific research, medical education, and health sciences in Bahrain. The university is committed to providing an advanced educational and research environment that contributes to the development of national competencies in healthcare, particularly in chronic diseases such as breast cancer.
