RCSI Bahrain Hosts Reunion for Alumni in UK at the Royal Society of Medicine
To further strengthen engagement with its alumni, the RCSI Bahrain Careers & Alumni Office hosted a reunion at the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) for its alumni working in the United Kingdom and surrounding region. The ceremony witnessed the attendance of 90 graduates and provided an opportunity for alumni to network and share memories and experiences with their colleagues and faculty.
The reunion commenced with a presentation by Mr Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Chief Operating Officer of RCSI Bahrain, on key developments and campus advancements RCSI Bahrain has witnessed across the years. Professor Alfred Nicholson, RCSI Bahrain Vice President for Academic Affairs and Head of School of Medicine and Ms Aine Gibbons, Director of Development, Alumni Relations, Fellows and Members at RCSI in Dublin, addressed the alumni and expressed their pride to witness the professional progress the graduates have made and reiterated the support offered to the RCSI global alumni network.
Professor David Misselbrook, former RCSI Bahrain Associate Professor in Family Medicine and Chair of the Research Ethics Committee, was invited to address the graduates and celebrate their success over the years. Also in attendance were Mr Fadi Ghosn, Head of Recognition, Careers & Alumni and Ms Loreen Bahour, Alumni Relations Specialist from RCSI Bahrain. Attending from Royal Society of Medicine were Professor Nik Patel, Chair of the Royal Society of Medicine’s Academic Board, and Mr Gavin Berkerey, Head of Membership and Marketing.
With the opportunity to connect with alumni, Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain led a feedback session and discussed new ideas and initiatives with the alumni. Professor Otoom commented, “I am delighted to witness the advancements made by our alumni working in the UK and the impact they have made through their roles as healthcare leaders. Since 2010, RCSI Bahrain has 282 alumni from more than 30 nationalities currently working in the UK, making the UK the most prominent destination for our Alumni community after Bahrain.Therefore, as part of RCSI Bahrain’s ongoing commitment towards our alumni, we are pleased to collaborate with the Royal Society of Medicine to support first year graduates in their career development, by providing them with a host of benefits, including access to the RSM’s medical library, discounts and online networking platform to connect with other RSM members worldwide.”
The RCSI Bahrain alumni network now consists of over 2,700 practicing professionals in over 30 countries. Connecting with our alumni to provide support and help enhance their personal and professional development is a crucial element of ensuring the continued success of RCSI Bahrain.
