RCSI Bahrain Certified as Healthy University by WHO EMRO
Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain was honoured to receive the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (WHO EMRO) “Healthy University” certification from Dr Ahmed Salim Al-Mandhari, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, at an event held today in the presence of Her Excellency Dr Jaleela bint AlSayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, Her Excellency Dr Shaikha Rana Bint Isa Bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council and Deputy Chairperson of the Higher Education Council Board of Trustees, and senior executive members of RCSI Bahrain.
Professor Sameer Otoom, President of RCSI Bahrain, commented on the announcement: “We are very pleased with the “Healthy University” certification from WHO EMRO, which is a testament to our continuing efforts to positively impact the health and wellbeing of our students and staff and our commitment to supporting Bahrain’s 2030 Vision through various sustainable initiatives for the benefit of the people of Bahrain. RCSI Bahrain extends its gratitude to Her Excellency Dr Jaleela bint AlSayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, Her Excellency Dr Shaikha Rana Bint Isa Bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council and Deputy Chairperson of the Higher Education Council Board of Trustees and Dr Tasnim Atatrah, WHO Representative and Head of Bahrain Office, for their support of developing healthy academic institutions in Bahrain.”
We are proud to be continually working towards a more environmentally sustainable campus and promoting good health and well-being, by implementing our solar farm project and various health-related community engagement activities, such as educating the children of Bahrain on healthy eating and its correlation to diabetes prevention through our Diabetes Mobile Unit.
