Simulation Patient Unit
Simulated participants (SPs) are specialists trained to portray patients or their family members. These skilled individuals portray a patient’s medical history, behaviour, and emotional characteristics of a particular health problem.
Simulated participants provide students with opportunities to practice physical examination and develop the various communication skills required by a health care professional. This allows students to practice in a safe environment, gaining valuable experience before their real clinical encounters in the hospital.
They are also trained to provide students with insightful feedback on their performance. This enhances the student’s communication skills by providing the essential perspective of the patient.
